SUBJECT:     2007 North Lauderdale Day – April 28th

As you know, 2007 North Lauderdale Day is scheduled for April 28th and we’ve planned a fun filled action packed day.  The Parks and Recreation Department has been working since mid January for this event and we have selected some new diverse activities and entertainment to make this day fun for the entire community.  The following is an outline of the event and the times the Commissioners need to be at the event for introductions and photo opportunities.

PARKING:

·        Saturday – April 28th – All activities planned for this day will be held at the Municipal Complex and Jack Brady Sports Complex.  Parking for the Commissioners will be in the Department Head parking spots on the south side of City Hall.  Parking will also be reserved for the City Manager and Assistant City Manager in the same area.

ACTIVITIES:

·        The event starts at noon with rides, games, craft vendors, a business expo, health fair, food vendors, Sheriff’s Office demonstrations, Fire Department, Dance Academy of North Lauderdale and United States Coast Guard.  The theme for this year’s event is “Celebrating America” and we’ve selected a wide variety of Americana music to fit this theme.  There will be music ranging from Dixieland to New Orleans Blues to Old Time Rock and Roll and everything in between.  Along with these professional acts, we’ve scheduled the Choruses from Morrow Elementary School and North Lauderdale Elementary School to participate.

Along with these activities, the Commission VIP Tent will be open from 5:00 PM till 10:00 PM for the Commissioners and their guests – please limit the number of guests to 6.  The tent will feature finger food, snacks, desserts, soda, water, and with the Commission’s approval tonight, beer and wine.

Commissioners, who wish to go on the main stage prior to the start of the Main Event Concert, are asked to arrive at the VIP Tent on Field 4 no later then 7:00 PM.  The main event of the evening is  “The Big Dogs Concert” that will begin at 7:20 PM and conclude around 9:30 PM.  At the conclusion of the concert, we’ve planned a fabulous fireworks show.

This year’s event sponsors include, Style Entertainment, Coca Cola, University Hospital and Medical Center, and the United States Coast Guard.

We are looking forward to a fabulous event.  Should you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me.
