Subject:           Agreement with Broward County for Reimbursement of Offsite Water and Sewer Improvements for Fire Station 34

Attached please find the reimbursement agreement with Broward County for the offsite water and sewer improvements for the new Fire Station 34.

As you are aware, the County’s Neighborhood Improvement Program is replacing the water and sewer lines in the Broadview/Pompano Park area. The replacement time frame would not coincide with the opening of our new Fire Station 34 in March 2008.  With that in mind, the staff obtained the authorization form the City Commission on July, 17 2007, to install the offsite water and sewer improvements needed to continue with the construction of the new Fire Station and later enter into an agreement with Broward County to receive the reimbursement from the County.

Recently, the City finalized an agreement with Broward County which was worked on by both the County and City Staff and approved by the County Attorney’s Office as well as the City Attorney. According to this agreement, the County will reimburse the City $152,000 for these offsite improvements.  The total cost of the project is estimated to be between $160,000 - $180,000, with most of the difference being for the onsite utility work which is not reimbursable by the County.

Recommendation
