Subject: Agreement with
For many years, Broward County Property Appraiser’s
Office has provided services relating to creating and maintaining the Fire
Assessment Tax Roll and providing taxpayers with notice of the proposed Fire
Assessment rates in the annual TRIM notices.
This service was provided based on an existing agreement put in place in
1997 with the Property Appraiser’s Office, at a cost of $0.15/parcel, or approximately
$1,700 annually. This amount has
historically been budgeted and charged to the Fire/Rescue Fund.
Due to increased cost in postage, printing, paper,
and other like costs since 1997, the Property Appraiser’s Office has increased
the cost of this service from $0.15/parcel to $0.50/parcel, or approximately
$5,700 (an increase of $4,000), effective for the 2008 tax roll. As such, we have attached a revised agreement
between the City of

The
Administration recommends Commission’s consideration and approval of the
attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute the revised
agreement with the Broward County Property Appraiser’s Office for the
continuation and notification of the Fire Rescue assessment at a cost of
$0.50/parcel.

OF THE CITY OF NORTH LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF NORTH LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF NORTH LAUDERDALE AND THE BROWARD COUNTY
PROPERTY APPRAISER FOR THE CONTINUATION AND NOTIFICATION OF FIRE RESCUE
ASSESSMENT AT A COST OF $0.50/PARCEL; AND, PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
Section 1: That the City Manager of the City of North Lauderdale,
Florida, be and the same is hereby authorized and directed to enter into an
agreement by and between the City of North Lauderdale, Florida, and the Broward
County Property Appraiser for the continuation and notification of the Fire
Rescue Assessment at a cost of $0.50/parcel.
Section 2: That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
adoption.
