PROCLAMATION

 

WHEREAS,  during Caribbean American Heritage Month,  we recognize Caribbean Americans and celebrate the many ways they contribute to the fabric of our nation and pay tribute to the common culture and bonds of friendship that unite the State of Florida and the Caribbean; and

 

WHEREAS, our nation has thrived as a country of immigrants and we are more vibrant and hopeful because of the talent and values of Caribbean Americans; and

 

WHEREAS, for centuries, Caribbean Americans have enriched our society and added to the strength of America and are leaders in government, business, sports, entertainment, and many other fields; and

 

WHEREAS, our nation is grateful to the Caribbean Americans who defend our liberty as members of our Armed Forces; and

 

WHEREAS, we are united by our common values and by the many ways in which Caribbean Americans have shaped our nation,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jack Brady, Mayor of the City of North Lauderdale, do hereby hereby proclaim the month of June, 2009 as

 

CARIBBEAN AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH

 

And encourage all Americans to learn more about the history and culture of Caribbean Americans and their contributions to our Nation.
