PROCLAMATION

 

 

            WHEREAS, Albert Alexandre Louis Pierre Grimaldi, was born on March 14, 1958 and succeeded to the throne of Monaco on March 31, 2005; and

 

            WHEREAS, Prince Albert has distinguished himself as the head of the House of Grimaldi; and

 

            WHEREAS, the Prince continues the policy initiated by Prince Rainier of Monaco and Princess Grace Kelly (Our American Princess) of using his position to draw the world’s attention to the need to protect the marine environment; and

 

            WHEREAS, Prince Albert engaged in a Russian arctic expedition reaching the North Pole on Easter, April 16, 2006.  As a result he is the first incumbent head of state to reach the North Pole; and

 

            WHEREAS, the Prince is also a global advsisor to Orphans International and

 

            WHEREAS, Prince Albert has deemed it proper to graciously extend an invitation to our Commissioner Gary Frankel for an audience on June 12, 2009;

 

            NOW THEREFORE, I, Jack Brady, Mayor of the City of North Lauderdale, Florida, do hereby proclaim that June 12, 2009 be designated and named

 

PRINCE ALBERT DAY

 

in the City of North Lauderdale, Florida.
