SUBJECT: One Year Extension of Community Shuttle
Operations Contract with Limousines of
In June of 2006, the
City solicited bidders through RFP 06-06-287 to operate two City buses for the
Community Shuttle Program. The City received
two bids and on July 11th, 2006, the Commission authorized the award
of the Bid to Limousines of South Florida.
The bid and corresponding agreement was a 1-year agreement with the
potential for up to 3-1 year renewals.
As we
conclude our 8th month of operation with Limousines of South Florida,
we are seeking the Commission’s approval to extend the agreement for the
2007-2008 fiscal year at a operating cost of $31.25 per operating hour/per bus
– for a total of $62.50 per hour. Please be advised that this amount is the
same as in the current year, and in accordance with the quote provided in the
bid. Although the total cost of the
agreement is $146,250.00,
While we are seeking
authorization to extend the agreement, we are aware of the fact that the Fiscal
Year 2007-2008 Budget may drastically change due to pending Property Tax Reform
Legislation by the State. To assure that
we meet the timeline to notify the vendor of our desire to extend the contract,
we are proceeding as if the service will continue. Should the State Property Tax
Reform Legislation impact the City’s Budget to a point where we may have to eliminate
or reduce the Community Shuttle Program, we would be able to terminate or amend
the agreement with a 30-day notice in accordance with Article 6, Section 6.1 of
the contract.
The two-shuttle buses run 5 days a week – (Tuesday thru Saturday for 9
hours per day). The shuttle does not run
on City observed holidays – this is similar to all other shuttle programs operated
County-wide.
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Administration
recommends Commission’s consideration and approval of the attached resolution authorizing
the City Manager to enter into a 1-year contract extension for the operation of
the North Lauderdale Community Shuttle Program with Limousines of South Florida
in an amount not to exceed $146,125.00 for fiscal year 07/08.
