SUBJECT: Sanitary
Sewer Rehabilitation Contract Renewal (bid # 05-06-279) with TeleVac South Inc.
The Sanitary Sewer
Rehabilitation Contract with the current vendor, TeleVac South Inc., expires on
September 30, 2007. As per the existing
agreement, the contract can be renewed annually. This contract includes the annual televising,
cleaning, and sealing of the City’s sanitary sewer system as part of our
on-going inflow & infiltration (I&I) program.
TeleVac South Inc. is a
reputable company and has always provided outstanding service to the City. They
have been very responsive to our needs. In
addition, TeleVac South Inc. has agreed to maintain FY 05/06 rates for this
service during the next fiscal year, if the renewal clause is exercised. Therefore, we are recommending renewing their
contract for another year beginning October 1, 2007.
Funding for this
contract is available in the FY 07-08 budget – 401 Utilities fund. The current contracted amount is $186,000.
Please find attached the
resolution and amended agreement granting the extension and pricing schedules.
Recommendation:
The City Administration
recommends Commission’s consideration and approval of the attached resolution
authorizing the City Manager to enter into an amended agreement by and between
the City of North Lauderdale and TeleVac South, Inc.; to renew the current contract
for bid #05-06-279, in accordance with the renewal terms present in the current
contract, to maintain the City’s wastewater pumping stations for another fiscal
year beginning October 1, 2007.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF NORTH
LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA, EXERCISING THE RENEWAL CLAUSE IN THE AGREEMENT BY AND
BETWEEN THE CITY OF NORTH LAUDERDALE AND TELEVAC SOUTH INC. FOR SANITARY SEWER
REHABILITATION FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE
NECESSARY AND EXPEDIENT ACTION TO CARRY OUR THE AIMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, TeleVac South Inc. has the
current sanitary sewer rehabilitation contract with the City.
WHEREAS, TeleVac South Inc., has
provided outstanding service to the City; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of
City Staff to extend said current agreement for the period of one year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF
Section 1. The foregoing "WHEREAS" clause
are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and is hereby made
a specific part of this Resolution upon adoption hereof.
Section 2. That the current agreement for sanitary
sewer rehabilitation by and between the City and TeleVac South Inc. pursuant to
the renewal clause of the original agreement shall be extended for a period of
one year.
Section 3. That the contract with TeleVac South
Inc. shall be extended until September 30, 2008.
Section 4 The City Manager of the City of North Lauderdale, Florida,
is hereby authorized and directed to take all necessary and expedient action to
carry out the aims of this Resolution.
Section 5. That this resolution shall take effect
immediately upon adoption.

EXTENSION AND ADMENDMENT
TO SERVICE AGREEMENT
TELEVAC SOUTH INC.
THIS
EXTENSION AND AMENDMENT TO SERVICE AGREEMENT is made this ____
day of ______, by and between the
CITY OF
WHEREAS,
TeleVac South Inc. has maintained the City's wastewater pumping stations many
times in the past and has been the only responsive bidder during that time; and
WHEREAS,
the parties desire to extend the Agreement for the additional period of one (1)
year, as per the contractual agreement, to September 30, 2008; and
WHEREAS,
the parties desire to maintain the existing Agreement to provide for no
increase in pricing; and
IN
CONSIDERATION OF THE MUTUAL PROMISED CONTAINED HEREIN, THE ADEQUACY OF WHICH IS
HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGED, THE PARTIES HERETO AGREE AS FOLLOWS:
1. The above recitals are hereby
incorporated herein as true.
2. The term of the Agreement is hereby
extended for an additional one (1) year period until September 30, 2008, under
the same terms and conditions as the original Agreement.
3. TeleVac South, Inc. agrees to maintain the
current pricing throughout the term of the Agreement, in accordance with the
contract agreement attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
4. All signatories hereto represent that
they are duly authorized to execute this Agreement on behalf of the party for
which they have executed this document.
