MY SAFE FLORIDA HOME GRANT

The My Safe Florida Home Program (MSFH) is a program which will enable Florida citizens to qualify for services; including free home wind inspections and funding assistance to strengthen/replace openings such as windows, doors etc.

Eligibility for the Grant:

You are eligible for the My Safe Florida Home Grant if you:

1) Got a Wind Inspection before May 1, 2007, then you are eligible for up to $5,000 matching* money to make any of the improvements recommended in your wind inspection report.

2) Got a Wind Inspection Report after May 1, 2007 then there are new eligibility requirements:

a. Have to live in the home 6 months out of the year

b. Your home is detached, site-built home.

c. Have a building permit application for application for initial construction made before March 1, 2002

d. Insured value of the home is $300,000 or less

e. Valid Homestead Exemption

f. Your home has undergone a hurricane mitigation inspection.

If you meet these requirements, you are eligible for up to $5,000 matching* money to make any of the improvements recommended in your wind inspection report.

*Matching money means as follows: For example, if the recommended improvements cost $3,000 then the state would pay $1,500.00 and the homeowner would pay $1,500.00.

Windows

2) Skylights

3) Gable Vents

4) Exterior Doors

5) Garage Doors

6) Bracing of Gable Ends

What do I Need to Apply?

1) Your wind inspection report

2) Your Service Request (SR) number.

3) Your Homestead exemption number

4) Your insurance Information

5) The year your home was built
