SUBJECT: Lending City Stage to Broward Sheriff’s
Office Relay for Walk Event
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office has requested the use of our Show Mobile Stage for their annual Cancer Relay for Life Walk for the weekend of Friday March 19th and Saturday March 20th, 2010. The event is planned for Northeast High School in Oakland Park and our stage will be used for event entertainment. This is the second year that we have been asked to provide our stage to the Sheriff’s Office for this event.
In accordance with City Policy, the rental cost of the stage is $600 per day, plus staff costs (set-up, breakdown, and staff time during event). We don’t anticipate any staff costs since all the work to will be done during regular working hours. Since the City has a relationship with the Sheriff’s Office, we are requesting that the Commission waive any costs associated with the rental.
Over the next few days we will be working with the Sheriff’s Office to finalize all the details on pick-up, set-up and return of the stage. The Sheriff’s Office will be required to supply the City will all necessary insurances to safeguard all parties.
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Administration recommends that Commission make a motion to approve the waiver of all costs associated with the rental of the North Lauderdale Stage to assist the Broward County Sheriff’s Office for the weekend of Friday March 19th and Saturday March20th, 2010.
