THE CITY OF NORTH LAUDERDALE

USE OF 2005 SUPPLEMENTAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) DISASTER RECOVERY INITIATIVE

 (DRI-SUPPLEMENTAL) PROGRAM FUNDS

 

The City of North Lauderdale is hereby giving notice that it intends to utilize $1,206,067.32 in 2005 Supplemental Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Disaster Recovery Initiative (DRI-Supplemental) funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), through the Florida Department of Community Affairs (contract # 08DB-D3-11-16-01-A-06) and Broward County Housing Finance and Community Development Division:

  • $1,001,067.32 for Disaster Recovery Home Rehabilitation Assistance to eligible homeowners to include bringing the units up to current building codes and hardening of dwelling units to prepare for future storms; and
  • $165,000 for Public Facility Improvements to facilities used during emergencies and disaster recovery efforts to include: $40,000 for the hardening of two City facilities that serve as POD distribution and debris collection/reduction sites; $25,000 for the installation of a permanent generator at one of these facilities to provide electricity during power outages; and $100,000 to repair the Scrolling Marquee for transmitting vital information to residents; and
  • $40,000 for Street Improvements to provide portable traffic light systems at four major intersections.

Citizens are encouraged to comment on the proposed use of funds for 30 days from publication of this notice.  All public comments should be received in writing by the City of North Lauderdale, Community Development Department, 701 SW 71 Avenue North Lauderdale, Florida 33068.  For additional information on the above-described projects please call 954-724-7069.
