The Stormwater Division is responsible for the maintenance
of the drainage system throughout the city. The division is
responsible for 25 miles of storm drainage and 1,000 catch
basins. This division is also responsible for cleaning and
maintaining the swale rights-of-way, scheduling a street sweeping
program, and complying with the National Pollutant Discharge
Elimination System (NPDES) Permit.
The City has joined with Broward County and other municipalities
to perform various tasks associated with the NPDES permit.
The street sweeping task is complying with the NPDES permit
requirements. The employees in this division also install
new drainage systems, clean drain lines and catch basins.
The cleaning of storm drain lines and catch basins are done
on a schedule that is created by the streets supervisor, who
also supervises the employees of this division. |
