The Vehicle Maintenance Division is responsible for the service
and maintenance of all city owned vehicles and small equipment.
The division also fabricates and mounts its own cranes and winches
to city vehicles. The city maintains and services approximately
118 vehicles including dump trucks, backhoes, front-end loaders,
fire trucks, rescue vehicles, and buses.
The division also repairs and maintains over 400 pieces of small
equipment, which include gas trimmers, lawnmowers, edgers, chain
saws, blowers, rollers, rollers, lawn tractors, club carts,
infield machines, and pressure cleaners. The division also manages
the towing contract for the city and maintains the fuel management
system. Vehicle Maintenance maintains all of the city's emergency
generators, pumps, and equipment which are needed for any emergencies
or hurricane that may strike the area.
The division also orders and purchases new vehicle and equipment,
as well as disposing of them. They also purchase parts and items
for the maintenance of the vehicles and equipment and all items
necessary to outfit the vehicles. The division works with the
Risk Manager on recovering money from accidents involving city
vehicles.
