Jack Brady
Mayor
Jack Brady was elected the City's first Mayor at-Large in Nov. 2004 and re-elected
in November 2009 for a five year term. No stranger to local politics, Brady has
been a member of the City's legislative body for more than 22 years. First elected
in 1988 as Commissioner of District B, he has also served four terms as Mayor
and four terms as Vice Mayor.
Mayor Brady was
drawn to public service because he enjoys working with people. His goal is to
make North Lauderdale the best community it can be, by making the best and most
informed choices on behalf of North Lauderdale's residents.
Brady serves as
President for the Broward County Area Agency on Aging, a board member for the
Florida League of Cities Intergovernmental Relations Committee, Broward County
League of Cities Educational and Children's Committee, Sickle Cell Disease Association
of Broward County, North Lauderdale Chapter of the Boys and Girls Club of America
and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He is a former board member for the North
Lauderdale Charter High School and North Broward Chamber of Commerce. He is a
Master Mason at Masonic Lodge #373 in Coral Springs, Fla., and events coordinator
for Acts of Kindness, Inc. Brady also regularly participates in events benefiting
Veterans of Foreign Wars Association, Scottish Rite, Lauderdale Lakes Moose Lodge
and Joe DiMaggio's Children's Hospital.
Mayor Brady is
retired school teacher. He received a Masters degree in guidance and counseling
from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Fla., and a Bachelor of Science
degree from Murray State University, Murray, Ky. Brady is also a four-year veteran
of the U.S. Navy. He and his wife Pat, have two children and two grandchildren.
