Parks & Recreation/Cultural Services Board

Purpose and Duties: To act in an advisory capacity to the governing body, for the express purpose of:

  • Stimulating a greater awareness of the programs, facilities, and events offered to the public by way of parks and recreation
  • Encourage and facilitate greater and more efficient use of governmental and private resources for development and support of parks and recreation activities
  • Identify community organizations interested in sponsoring recreational activities
  • Assess the needs of recreation programs and other programs to serve the community
  • Support and facilitate the preservation and growth of the parks and recreation resources
  • Provide awareness and sensitivity of the cultural environment of the City
  • Establish programs which promote respect for all individuals from all cultural backgrounds
  • Participate in City functions in an effort to promote cultural diversity in the City

Membership:

  • Seven members appointed by the City Commission for three (3) year terms

Qualifications:

  • Members need to be full-time residents for a minimum of six (6) months
  • Two (2) members can be high school students, 15 and older

Meeting Schedule:

Third (3rd) Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.
