Planning & Zoning Board

Purpose:

To act in an advisory capacity, as it relates to the subject of planning and zoning, to provide for the orderly growth and development of the City.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a local planning agency as set forth in the Local Government Comprehensive Planning and Land Development Regulation Act (F.S. 163.3161 et seq.)
  • Act in an advisory capacity to the governing body, to conduct investigations and hold public hearings upon following:
  • Zoning and Land Use
  • Vacated and abandonment of streets and alleys
  • Platting Site Plan
  • Variances, SEW, sign waivers and any other development related requests

Membership:

  • Seven member group appointed by the City Commission
  • Two alternate members
  • Three-year terms 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Full-time resident of the City for not less than a period of six (6) months
  • Well versed in environmental and planning and zoning matters
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings, zoning regulations, the City’s land use plan and be supportive of the City’s growth fostering health, safety and welfare of its residents
  • At least five (5) members of the board should possess the following experience
  • Employed in a site planning, engineering, building inspector or similar profession

First (1st) Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
