Programs & Special Events

The Recreation Division is responsible for planning all City Special Events as well as wide variety of programs and activities for the community. A updated list of recreation programs is included below and we invite you to contact us with any ideas or comments. If you have questions please feel free to contact Montoya Langham, Recreation Manager.

Pompano Park
located just west of State Road 7 on Bailey Road. The faciltiy is open Monday-Friday from 5-9 pm. The facility plays host to numerous programs including Summer Camps, Teacher Planning Days, After School Program, Classes, Games and Tournaments, Open Play, and much more.

The Recreation Division also plans all City Special Events. These events include to name a few, North Lauderdale Days, Haunted Hamptons, Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting, Eggstravaganza, and Family Concerts, just to name a few.

Holiday Spirit Parade – Cancelled for 2007

Holiday Lighting Display Ceremony – December 12
Join us as we light the City Holiday Display on the front lawn of City Hall. The City’s Holiday Lighting Display includes the lighting of the City Christmas Tree, and Menorah as well as our other Holiday Displays. Admission to this event is free.

Haunted Hamptons
Black Trail –
2007 - Friday October 26 and Saturday October 27th - 7pm to 9pm
Ghosts, goblins, monsters and other creatures of the dark haunt the woods of Hampton Pines Park. Visitors follow the trail chaperoned by ghost hosts, who make sure no one gets lost. Haunted Hamptons' Black Trail is a frightening experience for all that attend. Admission is three dollars. Advanced tickets, which allow you to skip the line, are available during the month of October at City Hall.

Orange Trail – 2007 - Wednesday October 31- 4:30pm to 7pm
North Lauderdale's safe trick or treating alternative.Kids receive candy from their favorite cartoon/storybook characters. Visit the pumpkin patch and go home with your own mini pumpkin. Admission is free for children 12 years old and younger.

Underwater Egg Hunt – March 2008
Jerry Resnick Aquatic Center
Celebrate the opening of the pool by diving for eggs at this unique egg hunt. Hunters are separated into four age groups from 5 and under through 16 and up, so kids of all ages have a chance to find eggs that can be redeemed for candy or prizes. Admission to this event is free.

Eggstravaganza – March 2008
Erik M. Soroka Sports Complex
Kids hunt for over 10,000 eggs filled with candy and prizes at this fun egg hunt. Hunters are separated into four different age groups: 2 and under, 3-5 years old, 6-8 years old, and 9-12 years old. Peter Cottontail and several face painters join the festivities. Admission to this event is free.
