Since 2001, the City has enjoyed efficient policing
provided by Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO), America’s largest
nationally accredited sheriff’s department and the third largest
purely in terms of size (Los Angeles and Chicago are larger).
With Chief Louis Cavallo at the helm in North Lauderdale,
the City enjoys a police force of 71 people to cover its five
square miles. Having been hired as a police officer in North
Lauderdale in 1977, Cavallo knows the area well. The BSO station
in North Lauderdale is located at the municipal complex in
the center of town. In terms of law enforcement, North Lauderdale
enjoys a local, focused hometown police force as well as the
economy of scale and breadth of programs that come with a
department the size of BSO. |
