Water Plant

The water plant is responsible for the production of potable water for the residents and commercial areas of the city. During a course of a year, the water plant produces 1.2 billion gallons of water. The water that the plant produces meets or exceeds the federal and/or state requirements. The water plant manager fills out all mandated forms for the city's water production. The water plant is an operation that has to be manned 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Therefore, the employees of this division not only operate the plant, but they also perform repairs and preventative maintenance on the plant.

The preventative maintenance includes valve exercising, painting, lawn maintenance, and pump maintenance. The Water Plant Division also takes water samples and tests them to make sure the city's water is within the mandated guidelines.
