Mayor Ana M. Ziade is the City’s first woman to be elected into office. The daughter of Cuban immigrants exiled by the Castro regime in 1959, her parents instilled the importance of citizenship, civic duty, and the right to vote. Although born in California, her family moved back to South Florida, where she grew up and attended public schools in Oakland Park.
She and her husband Dib have been residents of North Lauderdale for 28 years. They have a daughter, Ally, a North Lauderdale Recreational Leader; a son Joseph, currently serving in the United States Navy; a grandson, Mason; and two poodles, Max and Minnie.
Mayor Ziade is a former Florida Bar Certified Paralegal with an emphasis in Commercial Litigation and Customs and International Trade. Her 30 years of experience in the legal field helps guide her in all decisions she makes for the betterment of our City.
She has always been involved in the community, serving as past President of Episcopal Church Women and Senior Warden of the Vestry at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church; past Secretary and Committee Chair for both Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop; past Tier I and Tier II Broward County School Volunteer; past Vice President and President of PTA and PTSO; member of School Advisory Forum (SAF) and School Advisory Council (SAC); and North Area High School Representative. She is also a Court appointed Guardian ad Litem and Educational Surrogate and speaks Spanish fluently.
