Mrs. Davis-Hernandez began her career with the City of North Lauderdale in 2006 as a Community Development Specialist.  During this time she served as an Urban Planner for the city learning the inner workings of the Building Division, Code Compliance, Business Tax and Housing. These invaluable experiences served as a great platform for her as she continued her growth to become community development manager and then Assistant Director of Community Development in 2016. Tanya Davis-Hernandez, then moved on to the City of Lauderdale Lakes where she spent almost eight years owning her craft as a Director of Development Services where she effectively lead changes in her department as well as the city.

Mrs. Davis-Hernandez is back at the City of North Lauderdale to pick up where she left off, feeling right at home. As a certified Planner she is governed by the AICP code of ethics and professional conduct. A graduate of Florida International University M.P.A., Public Administration with certificates in Public Management and Human Resource Management. Mrs. Tanya Davis-Hernandez was born in Jamaica and later relocated to the United States in 1990’s, she is a member of the American Planning Association, Florida APA, Broward APA, a member of ICMA, FCCMA and BCCMA and NFBPA.

Mission
The mission of the Community Development Department is to enhance the quality of life while protecting the health, safety and welfare of City residents through a comprehensive planning, development and code compliance program.

The Community Development Department has six divisions that provide municipal services in the areas of Planning and Zoning, Code Compliance, Occupational Licenses, Building Permits, Neighborhood Planning and Economic Development.
